I’ve recently added a new photograph – Detective Emily Water Lilies – to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/detective-emily-water-lily/

When I saw this set of beautiful Detective Emily Water Lilies lined up, I knew I had to photograph them. As my eye went from one flower to the next, I loved the combination of bright purple and yellow contrasting with the greens in the lily pads.

This photograph is available matted to 10 X 20  and 12 X 24

Water Lilies

In mid-September, I spent a wonderful photographed at Longwood Gardens. One of the sets of flowers I was really looking forward to photographing was the water lilies in the Water Lily Display. The water lilies were spectacular and since it was very overcast day – they were easy to photograph. Here are a few of my water lily photos from that day.

A Visit to Green Spring Gardens

A Visit to Green Spring Gardens

Last month I spent a wonderful morning at Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, Virginia. I was there with the DC Area Flower Safari and I spent most of my time working with my lensbaby lenses. I bought the Lensbaby Velvet 56 earlier this year, and last month got a Burnside 35 to go with it. In addition, I’ve started using a Sony A7III camera. It’s a full frame camera which works better with the Burnside 35 than the cropped sensor camera I was using previously.

Here are a few of the photos I took getting to know my camera

I’ve recently added a new photo – Bob Trickett Water Lily – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Water lilies can be such delicate summer blooming flowers. I love seeing all the colors of water lilies are some of the local gardens. Not only do the petals come in all sorts of wonderful shades but the centers are often a complimentary color – like the pale purple and yellow combined in this wonderful Bob Trickett Water Lily. When I saw this lovely water lily, I knew I had to photograph it. I zoomed in to capture just the center with part of the petals rather than photographing the whole flower surrounded by water, which I’ve done with several other water lilies I’ve photographed. I hope you enjoy this different view of a water lily as much as I do.

Bob Trickett Water Lily is available as a matted print on my website.

Wonderful Water Lilies

Wonderful Water Lilies

As summer is winding down here in the DC area, I thought I’d share some of the water lily photos I took this summer. Several of the local gardens have displays of water lilies – so every year – I end up taking photos of many wonderful water lilies. Here are some of my favorite water lily photos from 2015

I’ve recently added a new photo –  Water Lily Leaves – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

I usually photograph water lilies several times a year at gardens in the DC area. And when I do – I usually compose my photos with one of the water lily blossoms as the main subject of the photo. One day while photographing the flowers I happened to notice the wonderful patterns and textures in the leaves of the water liles and started photographing them. The more I looked at the leaves, the more fascinated I was by the combination of colors – bright green in the center surrounded by yellow green with dark brown patches on the leaves edged with a red brown trim. How could I not photograph them? and then share this wonderfully different view of water lilies with you.

Water Lily Leaves is available as a matted print on my website. It available in two sizes – matted to 11X14 inches or matted to 16X20 inches.
