I’ve recently added a photograph of a Petals of a Pink & White Carnation to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/carnationpinkwhite/ It is available matted to 12″X12″ for $ 49.00 or 16″X16″ for $ 89.

When I saw these carnations at the store, I couldn’t resist bringing them home. I loved the combination of pinks and white in the petals. As I photographed these flowers, I became fascinated by the swirls and curves in the petals.

As you’re reading this, I’m on my way to New Orleans to lead my New Orleans Photo Tour. I’m really looking forward to sharing one of my favorite cities with a group of students. Not only will we spend the week photographing, but we’ll also be enjoying the music, the culture and the food in the Crescent City.

While I’m gone, I thought I’d share some of the carnation photos in my Petals show. The show is on exhibit until the 22nd at the Merge Gallery, Artists and Makers Studios 2, 12276 Wilkins Ave, Rockville, MD. The gallery is open from 10 AM – 4 PM Tuesday – Saturday.

Pink Gelato Carnations – In the Studio

Earlier this year I bought some fantastic pink gelato carnations. As with all carnations, I was fascinated to see the patterns and shapes created by the unfolding petals. What made this set of carnations extra special was the combination of pink and white on the petals – and the jagged edges. With the color and the textures in these flowers, I had a wonderful time photographing them in my studio. I hope you enjoy seeing this set of carnation photos.

Unfolding Worlds: Revelations in Colors

I recently submitted a project to Lenswork magazine’s Seeing in Sixes book project. It was not selected for publication. So I decided to share the photos with you today rather than just having the project sitting on my hard drive. The idea behind the Seeing in Sixes book is for photographers to create a series of six photographs that make up a project.

As I selected the photos for the project, I realized how often I was creating images that are more abstract than many of my previous photos. To me, these photographs are more about color, texture, and shape than about a specific type of flower. Since submitting the project to Lenswork, I’ve continued creating images in this series that I’m sure I’ll be sharing with you in the future.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy seeing my Unfolding Worlds: Revelations in Colors project.
