In the Studio: Purple & White Fringed Tulips

I’m still working on editing some of photos I took of tulips in my studio earlier this year. These are some photos I took of a set of purple & white fringed tulips. I had a great time photographing the edges of the petals – so many fun textures in the fringe.

Beautiful Parrot Tulips

In recent years I’ve become a big fan of the parrot tulips. I just love all the colors and textures in the curly, twisted petals.

I photographed a few types of parrot tulips at the end of tulip season in the DC area – I thought I’d share those photos with you today.

Flaming Parrot Tulips

I was looking through some of the photos I haven’t edited yet and came across a set of photos I took in my studio last spring of some parrot tulips and realized I needed to edit and share them. The tulips themselves were amazing – lots of layers to the petals with all sorts of wonderful shapes along edges. And of course – being parrot tulips they are very showy! The funny part of these tulips is their name – the variety is Flaming Parrot – and they are parrot tulips – so their name really is Flaming Parrot Parrot Tulips!

Amazing Double Late Tulips

Some of my favorite tulips are the double late tulips. Known for their large heavy blossoms that can resemble peonys, double late tulips are among the last tulips to bloom. They generally grow between fifteen and twenty-two inches tall.

I photographed some amazing double late tulips earlier this year – hope you enjoy my photos of them.
