As I photographed this wonderful purple and white ranunculus, I saw the incredible patterns created by the purple along the edges of the petals. So as I edited the photo, I emphasized the purple edges.

As I photographed this wonderful Pink Cloni Ranunculus, the colors reminded me of a soft sunrise at the beach just as the sun is about to reach the horizon. I can see all the yellows, peaches and pinks in the petals as colors in the sky.

Ranuncluses are some of my favorite flowers to photograph in my studio. I love how delicate the blossoms are. I also try to capture the softness of the petals in my photographs. In the photograph, I was fascinated by the way the petals opened out around the center of the flower.

As I photographed this wonderful purple and white ranunculus in my studio I loved seeing the patterns of the bits of purple on the petals – and what to me looked like a seashell pattern in the open petals.

Sneak Peek at a Few Photos from My Petals Show

As you’re reading this, I’m busy in my basement studio matting and framing the photographs for my show Petals at Artists & Makers Studios 2 in Rockville, MD. Bill and I will hang the show on Tuesday and the opening reception is next Friday evening, February 2 from 6-9 PM.

I have had so much fun preparing for the show and I love so many of the new photos, especially the photos of the ranunculus blossoms. So I thought I’d share my new ranunculus photos with you today.
