Spider Mums are one of my favorite types of chrysanthemums. They are known for their long tubular petals with hooked ends. Spider mums, like most other chrysanthemums, tend to bloom in the fall and they can be found in a variety of colors and shapes.
I photographed this purple and white spider mum in the fall of 2012. When I saw it, the combination of the colors really caught my eye – the dark purple at the ends of petals, the lighter purples on the petals closer to the center and the several shades of pale yellow and white in the center. It is one of most striking chrysanthemums I’ve seen. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
This photograph is available as a 10 X 10″ or 20 X 20″ gallery-wrapped canvas. You can order Purple Spider Mum from my website.
Chrysanthemums are my favorite fall flower. For years, the only ones I saw were the ones available at the grocery store in the usual fall colors of yellow, orange and perhaps a dark red – and I didn’t really think chrysanthemums were that spectacular. Then I started seeing different varieties and types of chrysanthemums and fell in love with them.
With thirteen different categories of chrysanthemums available in almost every color of the rainbow, chrysanthemums can be a photographer’s dream to photograph. The colors, textures and shapes are incredible. I’ve created a new video for you – Beautiful Chrysanthemums – with some of my favorite chrysanthemum photos.
The photographs in my video are accompanied by the wonderful harp music of Pamela Bruner. The soundtrack is Maid at the Spinning Wheel from her Music in the Glen CD, available at PamelaBrunerMusic.com
I do have a couple of chrysanthemum photographs available on my website. My favorite chrysanthemum photograph is my Coral Reef Chrysanthemum photo – I love the colors and textures in this amazing flower.
Enjoy my chrysanthemum photos and I hope you are having a wonderful fall.

Tulips are one of my favorite spring flowers. The Princess Irene Tulips are some of the most beautiful ones I’ve photographed. I love all the colors in the flame pattern on the petals. Until I saw the Princess Irene Tulips – I’d never seen any tulips with this many colors in them. Princess Irene Tulips are early blooming triumph tulips, growing to about 14″ tall.
This photograph is available as either at 10 X 10″ or 20 X 20″ gallery-wrapped canvas. You can order Princess Irene Tulips from my website.
I don’t know about you – but I’m starting to get in the holiday spirit. I visited Longwood Gardens last week and saw some amazing holiday displays. And for me – in December – the flowers I love to photograph are pointsettias.
To help celebrate the holidays – I’m offering a set of three poinsettia photographs at a special price of $ 99 (save $ 66 off the regular price) until December 16.
Choose any three small photos (10″ X 10″ or 8″ X 12″ – regular price $ 55 each) for the same Holiday Flower Collection price of $ 99 (save $ 66 off the regular price). My Holiday Flower Collection is available until midnight on December 16.
This year I finally photographed some varieties of Reflex Chrysanthemums. This is one of the thirteen classes of mums that I hadn’t seen before. Reflex mums are distinguished by their downward overlapping florets. The tops of the flowers are often full, and a bit flattened. What I really liked about the two varieties of reflex mums that I photographed was the color variations within each flower.
The Apricot Courtier reflex mums are a lovely pale apricot with some pale yellow petals near the top.
