One of the sites I visited last summer on my trip to Connecticut was the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Like many other rural cemeteries, Cedar Hill is full of wonderful late nineteenth-century statuary. I’m finding myself more and more fascinated with the old graves and statuary. I’ve started printing my photos of them as palladium-toned kallitypes – a late nineteenth-century photographic printing process. Somehow they seem to go together. My first step in creating the kallitypes is to visit the cemeteries and come home with some photos to edit and consider for printing.
