I just wanted to let you know of two opportunities to see my flower photographs in person.

I have a solo exhibition “The Beauty of Flowers” in the Lobby and Library of the Visitor’s Center at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland. My photos will be on display until December 8.
The Visitor Center is located at 1800 Glennallen Avenue in Wheaton, Maryland. The building is open daily from 9 AM – 5 PM and the Library is open 10 AM – 3 PM Monday – Friday. A portion of the sales of photos at the show will benefit Brookside Gardens.

My Bob Trickett Water Lily is on display in the Dreaming in Color show at the Lightbox Photographic Gallery in Astoria, Oregon. The show will be on display until December 10.
The Lightbox Photographic Gallery is location at 1045 Marine Drive in Astoria Oregon. The gallery is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11 AM – 5:30 PM.

As I’ve been preparing the photos for my Tulipmania show, I’ve been finding myself creating photographs unlike any I’ve ever created before. They focus on the colors, the patterns, and the textures I’m seeing in the flowers. I’ve also been doing some reading about abstract painters and photographers to see where others have drawn their inspiration.
Pablo Picasso wrote “There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterwards you can remove all traces of reality.”
From a technical standpoint what I’ve been doing is focusing in on the smallest details of the flowers by photographing in my studio with a macro lens and extension tubes, which allow me to fill the frame with ever smaller and smaller sections of the flower.
What I’m trying to do is separate the idea of a tulip as a flower, instead I’m focusing in on the incredible beauty I’m seeing.
I thought I’d share a few of these photos with you today.

My Tulipmania show will feature more than 30 photographs. They range from tulips in a garden to abstracts.
Tulipmania will be on display in the Montgomery County Camera Club Gallery at Artists & Makers Stuidos 2, 12276 Wilkins Ave, Rockville, MD from May 3 – May 30.

I will be at the at the Fairfax Holiday Craft Show at Fairfax High School in Fairfax, VA this weekend November 21-22, 2015.
Show hours are Saturday November 21 – 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday November 22 – 10 AM to 3 PM. I will be in booth 178 in the gymnasium.

I will be at the at the Holiday Craft Show at the Expo and Conference Center in Fredericksburg, Virginia on Saturday December 6 and Sunday December 7. I’m really looking forward to the show. This is my only show in Virginia this year.
Be sure to stop by my booth if you’re looking for gifts for gardeners and flower lovers. My boxed sets of notecards, 2015 Wildflower Calendar, and my book Wildflower Meditations: A Gift for the Spirit are perfect holiday gifts.
I’ve made some changes to my product line since my last show. The smaller sizes of my photos will now be available as matted prints instead of the gallery wrapped canvases. I will still have the larger canvases on display and for sale at the show.

I will be at the at the 13th Annual Arts Festival at the Harford Day School in Bel Air, Maryland on Saturday November 8. I’m really looking forward to the show. This is the first arts festival I’m participating in this year.
It’s not too early to be thinking about holiday gifts for the flower lovers on your list. My boxed sets of notecards, 2015 Wildflower Calendar, and my book Wildflower Meditations: A Gift for the Spirit are perfect for the gardener on native plant lover on your list.
